About Zero Robotics

Zero Robotics is a space robotics competition, where high school students use NASA research robots to play a game on the International Space Station. For four years The University of Sydney has provided Australian high school students with this opportunity and in that time, 13 teams from 10 different schools have progressed to the highest level of the tournament and run their code in space.

For every team that made it to the station, five more have competed. They have used a NASA research simulator to plan the movements of capable research robots and cooperated with teams from around the world. Students have been inspired to lead teams, solve real world coding challenges, engaged in project based learning and been inspired to pursue leadership and STEM opportunities.

Beyond being a coding challenge, Zero Robotics is one of the few ways Australia reaches out to the larger space community. Indeed it is the only way a civilian can interact with astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
