SIMULTANEOUS HIGH-SPEED VIDEO and PRESSURE TRACES:
High-speed video and pressure-time traces have been used to examine the effect of various geometrical configurations on flame front contortion and peak overpressure. The work was presented at the 5th Asia-Pacific conference on combustion in July 2005. Pressure is recorded using a Keller type PR21-SR peizo-electric pressure transducer with a range of 0- 1Bar and a total error <0.5 % located in the base plate. Simultaneously, high-speed images (2000 frames per second) are recorded using a MotionScope PCI 8000S camera. Some typical screen captures are given below:

PLANAR LASER INDUCED OH FLUORESCENCE (OH-PLIF):
OH-PLIF is currently being performed at the University of Sydney. As with the high-speed video multiple configurations will be examined. Initial results are highly promising, with the images revealing sharply defined, highly distorted flame front structures. it is hoped the images will be useful in determining the influence of obstacle on turbulence length scales and flame surface density. Some sample images are given below.
